Welcome to the 2013-2014 school year
Dear IAMS Parents:
I hope you had many opportunities this summer to enjoy and share special moments and quality time with your children, friends and family.
Our entire IAMS family is looking forward to welcoming your children back to school on Monday. During the summer months, our faculty and staff have been working hard to make sure our building and classrooms are ready to welcome your children. In addition, faculty members attended courses to enhance their practice and dedicated time to new learning opportunities. Last week we as a faculty had the wonderful opportunity to meet and dedicate time to discuss curriculum preparation, educational procedures, prepare classrooms to enchance learning experiences, and develop lesson plans, to welcome and ensure our children reach academic excellence. In addition, parent packet pick up day was a success and thank you to our parents and community for their collaboration. Over the course of the past week we have welcomed our new Assistant Principal Ms. Lisa Dallacqua and new staff to our school aas well as many new families. As you begin to see these new staff members at school, be sure to introduce yourself and help us all welcome them to the Inter-American community. Our new staff members are: Ms. Anna Marsden – 3rd grade & TBD – Dance, RTI. We are committed to a bilingual, bicultural education fostering high-level thinking skills and intellectual inquiry. Our school is very fortunate to have talented staff who are dedicated, hard-working, engaging, and committed to serving our children. Our parent community is supportive and involved. Together we place high value on excellence in education. We are looking forward to welcoming our children Monday, and I am looking forward to an exciting school year.

The beginning of each school year is a busy time for everyone. Please keep the following information in mind as we try to open our school year on a high note. Monday, August 26, 2013 First Day of School: 8:45am – 3:45pm - Classes start at 8:50am. Drop Off – Pick up procedures would not change at this time from previous year. Just a quick reminder: If you drive your child to school, please help us by not bringing your child too early or picking them up late. During drop-off and pick-up hours, cars are not allowed to stop or stand on Waveland or Fremont Avenues. Make sure to not block the flow of traffic, or leave your car running, especially with children inside the car. Please be patient and courteous to other drivers. Please do not park or block entrance to parking lot next to the school. Parking lot next to school: This parking lot is for faculty and staff only during school hours. (Fremont Avenue is closed for bus traffic only - http://goo.gl/maps/JiKP0) Our goal is to have a smooth and safe procedure for all of our children, parents, teachers, and staff. Parents make sure to pick up and complete all forms in the parent packet for your child. All forms are essential. Complete and return to the school or homeroom teacher your family free and reduce lunch form. Our goal is to have from you all forms completed by August 30, 2013. Communicate with your homeroom teachers if you have any questions. Per previous communications FELE is inviting parents to enjoy coffee and some light treats after drop-off on the first day of school. Gather in the outdoor area by the Fremont door at 8:45am to meet fellow parents. In addition, please check the following sites:
