From the Principal's Desk

Dear Inter-American Family,

Please mark your calendar with the following change for student attendance.  June 15 is a student attendance day in order to make up for the second school day.  Also, 8th grade graduation will be held on June 14th at 2:00 p.m. instead of June 13at 5:00 p.m..  This change is due to a full week of Cubs games.

The vendor for our parking garage has a new system for parents to enter/exit the garage when you are dropping off or picking up your child at the school.  The new ticket system will allow you to have 30 minutes of a grace period to exit the garage without needing to validate your ticket or pay a fee.  During afternoon Cubs games, we are able to share the parking garage with the vendor during dismissal time.  Please let the attendant at the entrance know that you are here to pick up your child at the school and the attendant will validate your ticket upon entering the garage.  We only have 8 afternoon Cubs games scheduled for the rest of the year.   Plan a little extra time on these days and all should be well.

If you did not have a chance to fill out the “My Voice, My School” survey during Report Card Pick-up, please fill out the paper form and return it in your child’s yellow folder by Thursday, April 28th.   It helps our school to have 100% participation.  It is not necessary to fill out another survey if you have already completed the on-line survey.

I look forward to seeing you at the community events coming up as we celebrate being a collective of bilingual and culturally rich families who actively resist the hegemony of mono-lingualism and mainstream conformity.

Peace and Justice,

Vernita M. Vallez
Principal
