Where were you born and raised? Chicago, Illinois at Illinois Masonic Hospital near the old Inter-American school building.

Why are you in education? I love to see students learn new things and be able toexpress their thoughts and ideas through art.
What are your hobbies and interests? My hobbies and interests are making art, playing with my children and reading anything that I can get my hands on.
What was the last good book you read? The last good book that I read is Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver.
What are the traits you admire most in others? The traits that I admire most in others are a sense of humor, patience and honesty.
What profession, other than education, could you also see yourself doing? The profession other than education that I could see myself doing is Medicine or Archeology.
Who has been the largest influence on your life? My family and various teachers have had a large influence in my life.
Where did you learn Spanish/English? I was raised speaking Spanish by my parents. That was my first language. I learned English through the Chicago Public Schools.
What do you think is the greatest benefit of being bilingual? I think that the greatest benefit of being bilingual is that a person has more opportunities to communicate, learn about and explore the world through multiple languages. I believe that being bilingual is a beautiful and wonderful part of living.
